    Hi

I was wanting to inquire if anybody out there in web land knows a reputable course for SEO. I've been clicking around and scratching my head but to no avail. Any direction in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards
    Julian

SEO is a tough field - there is so much snake oil out there that it's hard to know what advice to listen to.

I don't know of any courses that I would recommend, but here are some sites that are very good:

    SEO Book
    SEOmoz
    Matt Cutts

The Sitepoint forums might also be a good place to start out.

    Good luck!

I worked(very briefly) as an SEO and PPC manager with these guys before having a falling out the boss over his business model. Their course is a good summary of all the industry information available today. One of my major concerns was his serious undervaluing of the services the business supplied, so, you'll get value for money here:

    Apex Pacific Traing Courses

There are quite a few options when it comes to training up to be an SEO, it really depends on what skills your trying to acquire. I have been involved in search for many years & only recently found out about Apex Training, other options for you to consider are Search Engine College, SEMPO Institute Training + many more.

The other option is to get a job with your web dev skills at an SEO shop & get paid to learn the skills, many SEO firms are crying out for talented coders & web dev peeps.

Alternatively, you could go to a search conference in March called www.searchsummit.com.au & there is a session on Industry training that you might find useful + a heap more.

If you have the budget for it, SitePoint sell an SEM Kit that covers search, SEO, optimal design, PPC and more in considerable depth and has received lots of positive feedback. Disclaimer: I work for SitePoint, however I've not read the kit nor did I work on it. A bit of an initial investment, but it is popular.
