we were having a debate on how to use alt tags.

Example: if you should tell the alt tag that it’s an image alt=”image-description” or is it good enough to have alt=”description”?

that would be the same thing for title tags on links, do you put a descriptive text on the title?

do you need to use title tags for links, i heard you should use it for SEO benefits...

Providing descriptive alternate text for all images, via the ALT tag or detailed adjacent informational text (or captions), is essential for good Web Content Accessibility. It has been my experience that not providing meaningful alternative text for images is the most frequent Accessibility error committed by Web Authors - fortunately one that is easily corrected. I think Appropriate Use of Alternative Text by WebAIM is an excellent reference and guide for complying with this essential WCA requirement.

I use blank alt tags for images that have no particular meanings.
